Perhaps for this book, a little background is needed to help in your interpretation:
"When God finished making the world he felt as bright and sunny as love.  He had never made a world before and, if he said so himself (and he did), he thought he had done a very good job."  Then, Shaniqua, the angel  in charge of everybody's business, comes bursting into the room and tells god that what he has made is kind of boring.  God decides he needs to do some more creating to make the world more beautiful.  The above illustration occurs after god has created flowers.
