Affinity is a four year not-for-profit organization which currently serves black lesbian, bisexual women, transgendered women, and lesbigay youth of African descent. Affinity was created out of the dearth of resources available to these communities on the south side of Chicago. Affinity has become a viable part of the Chicago community.

madrina.com is a website in English and Spanish geared to women, containing links to sites in the areas of finance, the humanities, and issues of personal growth. Madrina also provides a community forum for like minded women, encouraging union and enrichment through the sharing of knowledge.

Inter-Play is an online index to plays in periodicals, collections, and anthologies. Created and maintained by the humanities librarians at Portland State University, it is an invaluable resource for the location of hard-to-find plays.

The Birthing Project USA is a national African American volunteer effort to encourage better birth outcomes by providing practical support to women during pregnancy and for one year after the birth of their children.

African American Women on Tour provides a forum for uplifting, empowering and enhancing the quality of life for African American women through economic, intellectual and spiritual development. The Conference will be held in Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington DC, and Atlanta.

One of the best sites on the web for African American writers, The African American Online Writers Guild provides information, news, career tips, resources, and support to its members. Well worth exploring.

I'll Make Me a World. "I'll Make Me A World celebrates the extraordinary achievements of 20th-century African-American writers, dancers, painters, actors, filmmakers, musicians, and other artists who changed forever who we are as a nation and a culture." This site is the online companion to the PBS series. Women of Color was listed as a suggested link.

Timbuktu Books, an online bookstore devoted to African-American literature. Their motto is, "Not a million titles, just the ones you want." As of this moment, their theatre offerings are particularly slim, but I forsee growth in the future.
