TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My own philosophy of teaching is based on a commitment to 'active learning.'  To encourage active learning, I design courses with a variety of learning tools and an emphasis on critical thinking, discussion, Socratic method, and structured controversy.  I was an early adopter of online teaching methods, and I continue to enjoy the challenge of curriculum and course development in the classroom as well as in electronic environments.
