Goalie Making Save

Modern hockey places different demands on goalies than in previous eras. The advantages offered by the butterfly, , pad extension and the two pad stack save techniques will help goalies cope with these demands. Years ago goalies were taught to keep thier legs together, in what is now considered a "stand up" style of play. But that was in the days when the offensive attack came down the ice in a straight line. Today's game is full of weaving cross ice plays, and if the goalie hopes to keep up, they should consider playing a down game. In other words, the save techniques offered here consist of save movements where the goalie goes down on the ice. Examine the advantages offered by the butterfly, half-butterfly, pad extension, and the two pad stack save techniques in detail on their respective pages.
