Bio
Bio Text:

I am a third year PhD student at SCILS, and my focus is a communication/media studies hybrid, as I'm interested in investigating social interaction in online participatory environments. I am fascinated by the various ways in which people interact, opine, discuss, debate, express, manipulate, appropriate, connect, control, collaborate, play, joke, and create online. I am also interested in the relationship between popular culture and identity.

I have worked for the past five years as a Communication Specialist for the Education and Outreach group at the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences here at Rutgers. Among other things, I am their graphic and web designer and resident non-Ocean Science expert (they like to run things past me to see if they'll make any sense to the general public). I recently changed roles at IMCS to become a GA for a project in innovative and collaborative media. I am also the TA for a course entitled, "Communicating Ocean Science to Informal Audiences," which brings ocean science undergraduate and graduate students into Liberty Science Center to learn how to present ocean science concepts to a more generalized audience.
