Distance education activities at SCILS have focused on using asynchronous Web-based methods for delivering complete classes and supplementing classroom-based courses. We maintain the same standards and requirements for online classes that we have for classroom-based study.

At this time we offer one complete degree online, the Master's in Library and Information Science, and several graduate certificate programs through the Professional Development Studies program, including Associate School Library Media Specialist and Youth Literature programs.

Many of our faculty have added online components to the courses they teach on campus within our undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. This online instruction supplements the work that is done in the classroom.
