Through scanning and other techniques, many original sources are now available on the Internet. Here are a few that I've found.
- A.E.M.M.A.
Knowledge Base
- A collection of articles from 1280-1991 regarding the techniques
necessary to use various weapons.
- The Age of
King Charles V
- Presented by the National Library of France, this site contains
the scanned images of many illustrations and text that were created
during the reign of King Charles V (1338-1380).
-
Bracton's De Legibus
- An online version of the text of the same name. The English name
is Bracton on the Laws and Customs of England and was written
in the mid-13th century. Available in both a framed and unframed
version as well as in English or Latin. Absolutely fascinating!!!
- British History:
Original Sources and Texts
- A collection of the texts of various charters, histories, and more
from 61 C.E. through 1945 C.E.. At present, there are 42 period
pieces arranged somewhat chronologically.
- Historical manuals online - swords & swordmanship
- Sponsored by the Historical Armed Combat Assosciation, they have provided both translations and original scans of period-written combat manuals.
- Paradoxes of Defence, by George Silver (1599)
- A swordsmanship manual provided as an original scan and in translation.
- WebMuseum: Les tres riches
heures du Duc de Berry
- Since this document is no longer available to look at, due to its
physical degradation, scanned images of it are available here, instead.
