What information needs do historians, students, professors, weekend adventurers, costumers, and performers all have in common? Well if they are medieval historians, students and professors; role-play adventurers; or renaissance fair costumers and performers the answer becomes more obvious. The Internet is loaded with useful information on the medieval and renaissance eras but it is difficult to find and is rarely evaluated. I plan on designing a web page that will serve as a guide to these fields.

I am both qualified and interested in this field. I have been involved with related activities for years. I have been a performer at multiple renaissance faires. I've also done some personal research and reading, therefore I am well aware that the information exists - it is just hard to find. The other problem is that novices have no way of knowing if the retrieved information is accurate or not.

I have been collecting the URL's of useful web sites for some time. From this, I have been and will be able to continue to gather quite a collection of useful links. I will provide detailed annotation with each link as to the information available, the historical accuracy, and all other relevant information.

I will divide the links into categories based upon who may be interested in them. What is useful for a historian may not be useful for a costumer and vice-versa. The beginning of my page, after my introduction, will have a "table of contents." Each category in the table will then link down to another area of my site where links relevant to that topic can be found.

I anticipate that my page will fill a vast informational void. Most importantly, I will be providing a centralized location for historians, costume designers, members of SCA, and others with a personal or professional interest in either the medieval or renaissance periods in Europe. In addition, I will be eliminating the guesswork presently necessary to determine how accurate and useful a site might be. I will make it clear what information will be available. I will not offer links to any pages that contain misinformation. With regular maintenance and a continued request for new possible sites, I will provide a complete and factual web page that will be interesting to a wide variety of people.
